Ordered a new set of pads from our favourite auction site. Initially they looked ok but on closer inspection the quality wasn't quite there, the biggest giveaway was that I vaguely remembered there should be a chamfer edge on the pads (now non-existent on the worn out ones so you wouldn't notice if comparing new to old).

Just a heads up really if you can be a tight arse like me - if the price looks to good to be true, then it probably is.

Could easily be caught out if you were in a rush or didn't have a good condition genuine pad to compare. I don't think they look so terrible that you would think these are obviously fakes.

Photos compare to a known genuine pad from Halfords.

I’m too tight to even shop for Shimano pads. Uberbike work well for me.

A nice example of why buying from your local bike shop is good.

When there are aircraft parts on the market that are fake/bogus, with paperwork too, car and bicycle and motorcycle parts are a doddle for these people. I just keep well away, especially with brakes, tyres and steering parts.
