Saw the first episode of this on Disney yesterday. Thought it was great fun. It’s super cheesy and has a great cast. Plus lots of 80s cars. And Concorde.

Read it 5 times... Watched all 8 episodes, couple of things changed from the book I'm not sure about.
Not sure about the man playing Rupert.
Never liked Danny Dyer... Love him as Freddy.
Overall... Marvellous.

Finished it today. All 8 episodes in one go as the weather was dog turd outside and curtailed our plans.

Enjoyed it thoroughly.

We watched 4 last night and finished it this evening. Jolly excellent storytelling. Fair play to Jilly C, I hadn’t realised just what an accomplished story teller she was.
I’ve never read any of her stuff, so I don’t know if the books are similar, but I thought the production managing to make it a very “bloke” show was spot on. Every bloke in his 40s was brought up with Jilly Cooper stuff being chick lit mummy porn, daddy read Dick Francis instead, but this was superb in its handling.

I read all the books as a teenager and re-read them again in my 20’s.

Accomplished story telling & will watch the series now.

The 1990’s Riders adaptation was dire, so the bar is low!

Ah yes, Riders... It's better than that.

My Father was her accountant for thirty years and Jilly plus her late husband were great family friends. She really researches her books. Fun books for entertainment. Fun TV if well done.

binged it the other day, never read the book, not sure how accurate it is to it, but it's brilliant tbh. Great cast, funny and a great throwback to anyone who grew up around that time and lived in the country.

On rest of entertainment podcast they said a lot of the quality is down to the team they got to adapt it as JC books are quite hard to adapt apparently.

Rupert C-B looks more like Gaston from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast than Jilly Cooper’s description of the character.

We’re on episode four and enjoying it immensely. Thoroughly enjoyable trash TV

Not really a fan of drama/fiction, However, having recently watched ‘Bad Monkey’, I was on the lookout for something else, watched ‘Ludwig’ Just OK; then noticed this on here.

Fantastic, I’m really enjoying this, who ever was in charge of casting has more than nailed it; how easy would it have been to just cast very beautiful people and try and make it period correct, they’ve not done that, they’ve chosen people are almost period correct, handsome buggers and the kind of ladies, who would front those kind of people.

The sets, everything is just so ‘bob on’ clearly a lot of work, went into the production of this, one of the best things on television this year!

Just started watching this - I’m really enjoying it. I’m the same age as the son (21 in 1986). I remember driving a Mk2 RS2000 and all that evocative 1980s music.

I suppose we (now) old codgers are having our 1960s moment (when everyone went on about it, and we couldn’t remember!)

Talking of cars, what was the yellow thing Cameron was driving when she went back to London after the new year's party in episode 3?

Looked like a Lotus Elan to me.

There was a yellow Elan in the car park when Declan Borat arrived on his first day at Corinium.
