That the same problem I have!!!!
The bloody wireless modem is sitting on top of the pc (so much for wireless) and the thing only connects at 36Mbps and then drops down to 5.5 2 or worse 1mpbs and then disconnects. Given up and stuck a cable in the back and I have no problems at all.

I "called" beklin on their chat support and they have given up (3 calls) and I have an engineer calling me Monday/Tuesday at home when I'm at work?!

I feel like ramming the damm thing down the toilet at the moment.

Try changing your encryption -I had a similar problem trying to use WPA-PSK. Connection is stable when I changd it to WEP.

Quite a bit of info on the net about this (if you can get on it )

I too bought into Bellend products, being swayed by their 'lifetime guarantee'.

Shite products, I bought 3 nic's and a wireless router - all supposedly 125mb burst speed . Have re-flashed the firmware and tried all manner of previous ones to no avail. Technical 'help' was overseas somewhere in a mud hut, powered by a genset. I gave up when I encountered the normal language barrier/bengal call centre treatment, and the idiot-sheet reading monkey that cannot think past script numbers 1 and 2 Which part of "I have already done that" do they not understand? Also why do I have to reboot my PC when simply renewing my adapters IP lease works just the same...

Bellend used to be well respected when they stuck to high end cables and now they have built a good reputation on that product, they have destroyed that name in an instant with ill thought out, un-reliable, monkey-supported product range.

Also when you get online to the router (LAN or WAN side), the info page displays all your settings WITHOUT having to enter the admin password what the hell kind of programming is that?

My toaster emitts more rf than that router does

To give a balancing view, I got a Belkin wireless 54g router and PCMCIA card 3 years ago - connected old laptop, new laptop and other kit to it no problems, no drops, good range.

A year ago, the wireless bit failed (still worked as a wired router) and customer support were excellent - the 'chatroom' style online support was a California, took me through several diagnostics and we decided it wasn't going to work - so they sorted me out with an FOC replacement which arrived within 5 days - upgrade to latest equivalent model, plug & play same drivers can't say fairer than that IMO.

I'm having a similar problem trying to get a USB Network adaptor and a Network card to connect between my uncle's laptop and PC. The signal is poor/doesn't connect/or drops out when connecting to his Belkin adsl router even when in the same room. I have tried it on my PC connected with a Netgear router and it is fine.

I only use 128 WEP. I disabled this and no difference.
I've update the firmware in the card, and the modem. reset the modem to factory default. changed the channel from the default of 11 to 6 and 1. All without making a bit of difference.
The signal I get when the modem is 10 feet apart is around -50dbm. Its not until I the modem gets to within 2 feet goes the signal get to -15dbm which according to Belkin is were it should be, given the room I'm in.

Could it be that the ariel on the router is damaged? That might explain the very short range you're experiencing...

I don't have a Belkin wireless router (I use a Netgear DG834GT). With this however I was reliably informed not to operate a wireless PC/laptop withing a few feet of the router as this causes problems, one or two of you might have a problem because your router is too close to the PC trying to connect wirelessly.

Maybe?

PS I have no problems with mine and would recommend Netgear stuff all the time.

OK, I tried it in his house with both Netgear and Belkin routers and the problem is the same, bad signal. I then found out the lap top has a built in wireless card. I removed the belkin card and activated this and the problem is solved, good reception apart from in a couple of places and all is fine. It seems the Belkin wireless PC card doesn't receive too well.
