Broad St, Birmingham?
Discussion
I am out with a pal on Saturday at the NEC Classic car show and we are staying near Broad St in Brum. We used to go there frequently in the past (10 years ago) but this time it will less of a drunken 3am finish as we’re both in our 50s, but we do like a good night out of bars and pubs etc.
What is it like these days? Anywhere near we should go instead etc?

Yep Colmore Row will have plenty. Head to Bennetts Hill specifically for pubs with music

We stayed at the Mcdonald Burlington next to new street station, the other week. The old midland hotel. The room was great as was the location.
The bar and restaurant were quiet on a Saturday night. Probably because the food was mediocre plus people staying probably want something more cosmopolitan to eat.
However. If you just want to sit in comfort, and be able to hear yourselves speak, and not queue up to be served, the lounge bar would be perfect. We were in there for an hour or so and there were only 4 other customers.

Do these places have good pubs, maybe with a bit of music too (creates nicer atmosphere)?
They're mostly 'bars' rather than 'pubs' so yes they all have loud music. If you don't fancy more walking then I'll stick with my original thought of Brindley Place. Loads of bars all next to each other and right next to broad street.
I can confirm three of us had a good night out after the NEC show on Friday. We went to the following pubs in this order and each served a good choice of beers. No music though.
The Old Contemptibles
Pure craft (nice bar snacks and small plate food)
Bacchus (not easy to find! Its underground)
The Victoria
Ended up with a great curry at Asha’s.
About 5-10 mins walk between each pub.

Only just spotted this thread, but those are the pubs I would have suggested. I grew up in Brum but moved away 30yrs ago, but visit family regularly and always like to pop into these. Have been going in the OCs since I was 18 in 1988! The Old Contemptibles
