Behold the Brabus Big Boy 1200
Just when it seemed like all the Benzes had been Brabus'd, along comes the 2,000lb ft motorhome
Brabus has been keen on collaborations of late - see the KTM motorbikes, for example - but we certainly didn’t see this coming. In conjunction with Belgian company STX, it has built the Big Boy 1200 (yes, that’s the real name) - aka the first Brabus motorhome. A cooler way to holiday now, right?
‘No matter where you are’, reads the Brabus press release, ‘you’re always in your luxurious home, be it at the racetrack or in the world’s most expensive travel destinations.’ Its supercar ‘of a somewhat different kind’ offers more than 30 square metres of living space, the Big Boy interior kitted out exactly as you might expect a Brabus motor home to be: black leather, Alcantara and carbon dominate. Even the toilet and the crockery are black. The sofas are quilted in Brabus’s Triangle design to match the driver and passenger seat.
And check this out: the Big Boy has four electric slide out modules that allow the width of the living space and bedroom to reach 4.5m, as well as hydraulic jacks to ensure all 12 metres of Big Boy is stable wherever it’s parked up. Couldn’t use this name and have a small truck now, could they? Motorhome or not, it looks like a really nice living space in there, complete with double glazing, a PS5, a pair of 43-inch TVs and power skylights. A Starlink internet connection means you’ll never be too far from the online world if needed.
The Big Boy isn’t all style over substance, either, as all the usual motorhome amenities come as standard. Should Brabus customers want to use their million dollar motorhome as intended, they’ll be able to. The kitchen is said to boast ‘state of the art’ appliances - including a wine cooler, no less - so fingers crossed for an air fryer as well. There are eight solar panels on the roof, a generator and an energy storage unit for power, big tanks for fresh and waste water. There’s an auxiliary heater, too.
Lending the Big Boy proper Brabus status is a 12.8-litre straight six diesel, complete with 530hp and a whopping 1,918lb ft of torque. While Big Boy can only do 56mph, expect it to feel more than commanding around that speed. Three axles for the big truck promise good comfort and secure handling; Brabus even suggests you might get eight miles per gallon in long distance use.
And finally, while nobody is likely to mistake Big Boy for any old truck, there are a few distinctive Brabus features to make sure. There are illuminated logos, carbon details and Brabus LED light bar, just for starters. Rest assured nobody will need to come aboard and see the designer dining chairs to know Big Boy is a very special motorhome. Certainly it’s priced like one, too: €1,260,504.20 in Germany before the 19 per cent VAT, which makes for a nice, round €1.5m in total, or £1.25m. Still, what a truck to take to a super exclusive track day or race weekend. Hopefully it could tow this Smart Crossblade for use as a paddock runaround…
