...came on again for the second time since I've owned the car. Pulling off the charging fuse cover, it looked like the fuse was fully intact, so thought it was the alternator gone. However, unbolting the fuse to check revealed a hairline crack through the middle - it fell in two once I pulled it out. Bolting the connectors together is the perfect bodge.

A reminder to make sure you have the following tools minimum - allen key to remove scuttle, long thin nosed pliers to break the cable tie, and small sockets to remove. Oh, and jump leads!

Happened to me once too. Have been carrying a spare ever since. However over the last 3 years I asked the dealer to change it during each service, since vibration fatigue seems to be the issue, and have not had a problem.

Worth the few pennies.

I already have a few spares... but very cleverly left them all at home
