There's a shortlist of suggestions on the BBC website here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8el9d56yy6o

Mark Chapman
Gabby Logan
Alex Scott
Kate Abdo
Alan Shearer
Micah Richards
Colin Murray
Dan Walker
Laura Woods
Jake Humphrey
Kelly Cates

or somone else?

For me it's Murray. - or maybe him and Logan sharing the duties (separately) throughout the season.

So who's your choice and why?

I quite like Mark Chapman personally. Hardly spoilt for choices though.

Another name not mentioned is Manish Bhasin. He has hosted many BBC footy shows over the years including EFL highlights and FA Cup and currently hosts the official PL show that goes out to around 700 million people. He'd probably not be too dissimilar to Gary (if ease of transition is one of the key factors), a relatively safe pair of hands, a face most footy fans will be aware of already. Only downside for me (again if it is a factor) is that he never played the game professionally before.

Lopetegui as A) I don’t watch it and B) it would create a vacancy elsewhere.

Chappers deserves it, seems to be an absolute grafter. If you consider talking waffle on the radio 24/7 to be graft of course!

Always liked Lineker as a presenter although I was one of those who thought he should have kept his opinion on politics more to himself. But I wish him all the best and personally I'd offer the MOTD slot to Gabby Logan if she's interested - IMO she's one of the best presenters regardless of channel (BBC, ITV, Sky, or TNT).
