OE Witness dash cams - anyone got any experience?

Following on from a link in another post about dash cams, I'm curious about the oe witness range.

I appreciate there are cheaper cameras out there, but the oe look is something that's appealing.

I'll answer my own question, kind of...

After a bit of online research I found other similar brands, eg fitcamX, but also the very same things on aliexpress.

The aliexpress cams were obviously much cheaper, and bundled without sd cards or readers, but I took a punt anyway.

For less than the price of one from a "branded" retailer, I got two - one for the q3, one for the electric mini. Fitted them today, really quite simple with a small amount of fiddly work.
Looks like a result so far, pretty happy with my decision at this stage.

I've got one fitted in an Audi, pleased with it so far.

Bought one for a Smart EQ too, but they couldn't get it to fit properly, customer service was second to none. Did their best to resolve, but in the end refunded me ... no charge for the hours of fecking around trying to get it to fit either.

I have the FitcamX Version in a VW ID4 and works fine, quality is OK, app a bit clunky but does the job. No GPS so cant show / playback speed if thats important to you, although if ever such a serious incident had occured im sure boffins could determine speed by distance / time calculations from passing street furniture.
