I found a thread here

https://www.macanforum.com/threads/diy-sd-card-onl...

That gives a simple way to get full screen car play on earlier 992 before PCM6 was added ( 2023 I think).

The process involves creating an SD card and then putting it in the SD slot whilst the car is running.

You then get a blank screen, a series of other screens, more blank screens and then a message to remove the SD card and it is done.

Creating the SD card is not that hard but is a bit fiddly as you have to remove hidden files. It took me about 30 mins to create.

My car is a 2021 Turbo S and I also have a 2019 Cayennes that I did at the same time.

In essence anything that uses PCM 5.

As ever at your own risk but there are no reported issues on the Macan forum.

If you dont want to code the SD card yourself if you are local to Esher in Surrey you are welcome to pass by and use my card.

Thanks for this post - it’s working perfectly in my 2019 992 too.

Cool. The funny thing is that pretty much the same post on Rennlist ( by the person who made the software ) has hundreds of comments. This only finally has one !

It is really great. I have on my turbos s and Cayenne and much nicer to use.

I was sceptical, had to find my daughters ancient pc out of her cupboard, and a £12 SD card from Tesco. I followed the instructions (surprisingly easy) and it actually works!

I was prepared to spend £300 but am over the moon with this easy modification.

Funny you should post, I was going to ask if anyone had their PCM getting really hot & rebooting over & over again? I’m not sure if it’s the fullscreen mod, or just a problem with the PCM generally. Less likely culprit is a Carlink wireless CarPlay transmitter I have plugged in, but I can’t see how that would make the screen hot.

I’m going to try all the different possibilities over the next few days, not using CarPlay at all, using it cabled in, uninstalling the fullscreen mod etc, see if anything changes.

Did you solve it finally? If yes, how? Wondering if it was related with the full screen mode which I am considering installing.

Jeremy any chance you still have the SD card? Have recently moved close to Esher and got a 21 GT3. Thanks.

Sorry, didn’t see this at the time - it was the wireless CarPlay dongle causing it! I use a cable now, and no problems with the fullscreen coding.

I don’t understand how the PCM would even know there’s a dongle, aiui it’s just converting the CarPlay signal from the phone into something the PCM understands, but something’s obviously going wrong.

Even better, looks like the same chap has now created code that enables wireless CarPlay!

I’m going to try installing it tomorrow, I’ll report back.

Good news, it seems to work perfectly!

I now have wireless CarPlay (I previously had to use a cable. I tried a CarLinkit dongle but that made the PCM overheat as the unit had to work overtime resizing the signal from the dongle, apparently). I still have full screen CarPlay too.
