With the Ioniq 5N having a multitude of settings, set-up options and the like, I thought it might be handy to have all (or at least a bunch of) the questions and answers in one place as no doubt new adopters are likely to have a lot of queries specific to the N model. I'll start with a few while waiting for mine:

i) How do you change to a traditional 'auto' mode (i.e. not using flappy paddles to change gear, changes are auto)? I remember on my test drive I went into the mode, but it was while driving and fiddling with buttons and a bit over exceited with it all, so I don't remember how I managed it.

ii) Can someone confirm what the settings are for the standard driving modes? I assume N mode is just everything maxed out, but I wasn't sure exactly what settings Eco, Normal and Sport result in.

Lastly, a tip for those who don't know; if you long press the driving mode button (blue, top left), it shifts the car to N mode. This then frees up the left hand N button for 2x custom modes rather than 1x custom and 1x N mode as it does by default.

Once I get mine delivered, I'm happy to answer anything as I quite like just faffing around finding things out, so will likely be in the car for about a week fiddling with all the settings biggrin

Hi ,

Ive only had mine a few weeks and it only gets used at weekends so not had much time to go through all the settings

We have it in normal driving mode most of the time and brake regen on level 1 or 2

I’m not sure what settings are applied for the 3 different drive modes

I have the left n button set to custom 1 and 2

Custom 1 set

Motor - normal
Steering - sport
Suspension - normal
LSD - normal
Esc - sport
HUD - normal
Nas+ - ignition

Custom 2 set

Motor - sport +
Steering - sport +
Suspension - sport
LSD - sport +
Esc - sport
HUD - sport
Nas - ignition

Right n button set to toggle e shift gears

Star button mapped to n mode screen , I haven’t tried any of the n settings , launch , drift and so on !

Obviously it needs tweaking I just haven’t had enough time to get it to how I really like it + I’ll add it’s almost impossible to try and find the settings you like on public roads

Also the roller volume control on right hand side of steering wheel is also a button if you hold it down for a few seconds it mutes the speed limit noises

I really need to get out in more just not had time , and my misses prefers our 330d bmw , as it’s better for parking at the shops !, I get that as the 5n really does take up some floor space

Also I’ve got the tailgate rattle thing going on , which I need to sort

For the tailgate rattle (not N-specific), I added washers behind the bumpers on the boot lid. I tried 2 washers per bolt on each side, but the boot wouldn’t close, so ended up with 2 washers per bolt on one side, and one on the other. I measured the panel gaps to decide which side had the extra washer.

It has 80% cured it but do still get some noises over speed bumps etc. Most of the time it’s silent. If you carry rear passengers you will need to reseat the rear seatbelts every time otherwise they rattle.

All this adjustability really puts me off .
Awesome car but really a bit ps and I think trying to get an EV to mimic an ICE seems a bit weird - one of the best bits about a an EV is the complete lack of hassle .
Each to their own thou 👍🏻

The beauty is, you don't need to have any of that e-shift mimicry stuff turned on. In fact, if you want the full performance you have to operate the car without that stuff. It's not on by default so that isn't an issue.

It's there for fun reasons I guess, but can be totally hassle free if you want it to be. Granted at that point, just buy a regular Ioniq 5.

Thanks - it is a cracking car - I’d say 90% of a Taycan Turbo for less than half the price .

I think the good thing about adjustability is exactly that; it's adjustable. All of the options can be on or off depending on your preferences. I'd rather have the option to do something and choose not to, as opposed to not have the option in the first place. If that makes sense?

I think the N's are known for being really customisable, so I'm glad they've kept that going with their first EV too and not stripped it all back.

It is hard to compare an SuV with a sports tourer like the Taycan. They are completely different and aimed at a different consumer base.

I have had Taycan Turbo CT for nearly 3 years and am currently looking for a replacement . I didn’t get a good chance to test drive the 5N due to traffic but it is very very good . Compare the lease costs on a like for like - £800 ish v £2700 and it is frankly a no brainer .
I now need a decent tow car and actually want a daily that isn’t as good as the Taycan so I’ll drive others at the weekend . So not for me .
But put a Porsche badge on it and you’d never tell .

I struggle to see how upmarket brands will differentiate themselves from the rest going forward .

Car is arriving at the end of next week, so if anyone has any questions they might want answered, by all means ask away. Even boring stuff like boot loading height biglaugh I'm happy to help/inform where I can. Can't wait!
