Worth perusing finance company - main dealer pcp

Trying to help out a friend and the situation is getting a bit nuanced / un-Google able
I'll not state my own view so as not to prejudice opinion, but would like to see If people thing this is worth persuing:
His main dealer PCP financed car - 18 plate Citreon with 70k miles has had complete engine failure
Supplying dealer quoting £10k to fix. Issue validated and of course other garages are quoting cheaper but the thing is worth £6k with no issues....
They've not serviced it on time and we think probably ignored warning errors the the build up to complete failure.
He is looking into whether they can persue something with Citreon finance as they *think* at point of purchase and finance the dealer did the PCP contract for less miles than they stated in the needs and demands convo.
