Just been browsing ebay and seen a set of calipers / discs / uprights from a Cerbie.

Are these retro-fittable to the Chimp, or is it more hassle than it's worth ?

On the contrary, they do fit .. but it's bleeding hard work and although neil anderson had all the cerbie brake running gear on his griff he was never really satisfied with it .. having to do stuff like run a LHD steering rack upside down didn't do much for the steering feel and bump steer from what i understand.
What you could do is redrill the discs for 4 bolt fixing and make a caliper mounting up to use the disc and caliper onto the ford upright. If you have a handy engineering firm that would be a nice project

That's more like what I was thinking
So there's enough space then ? On my last car (E36 BMW) brake upgrade options were very limited due to the disc being quite close to the wheel. Most aftermarket calipers were too thick to go on without bodging the whole thing with wheel spacers.

I beleive cerbies come with 17" as standard so i doubt whether your Chim wheels would fit over the brakes, definately not the fronts,

well yeah Andy, take your point about the rim clearances .. the std 4.2 runs 16 inchers so only .5in clearance difference .. have a look at some std 4.2 cerbies and see if you think there's enough space you cna always turn the 296mm 4.2 disc down to get it the biggest you cna support in your wheel spec

You asked are they retro fitable. The answer is no they are not. They are from a totally different car with different fittings etc etc.
They like anything else can be made to fit but there are a lot of gotchas. The 310 brake discs will not fit on a 15 inch and it is very much touch and go with a 16 inch. I have just got a 316 into a 16 inch wheel but I had to use a special calliper and move the location to get the clearance.
Yes you can redrill the bell but have you looked at the price of replacement discs that will fit? The discs are a lot wider which means playing with calliper spacing even more than usual as well.
The bracket is not that easy either as it tends to get in the way and causes limitations there. Nothing that money and a lot of time can't sort out though but look into the costs and you may be a little surprised at how much the cheap upgrade finally costs you.
As for the rear callipers, totally wrong again. They don't have a handbrake so can't be used even if they bolted straight on.
