944 weatherproof car covers

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I currently drive a 944 S2 that I bought in August.
Unfortunately I don't have a garage for this car and with the British autumn coming up I was thinking of buying a waterproof car cover for it. I don't know anything about car covers, so I was hoping someone could help me out!
I had a quick look in Halfords today and they had one cover that seems pretty decent but it is not specific to a 944. They come in various sizes, the medium one seems to be a little bit too small (length: 4.10m, width: 1.72m) and the large one seems too long (length: 4.52m, width: 1.76m).

From my manual, the 944 is given as L 4.23, W 1.735 so if i pick one of those it would have to be the large one which would be a bit too long for the car.
Anyone else know of more suitable covers, or is that one good enough? The ones at Halfords cost around £60.

Why do you want to keep your car under a baggy shower cap? A forum search on 'car cover' will produce a post with info about how both 'Villageidiot' and I have imported covers from www.carcoverworld.com in the USA.
I use mine (a Covercraft Noah) on my 944 and couldn't be happier. It is a really good tailored fit (so you do get a pool of rainwater on the rear spoiler - I've made a packing piece from four lengths of pipe lagging gaffered side by side which solves the problem). It is made from multi layer 'Noah' fabric (www.carcoverworld.com/Noah.asp) and the same cover in UK is nearly £300.
The best bit was mine cost under £150 including carriage (about £50) and import duty (£35 which villageidiot somehow didn't get charged). Takes a couple of weeks to arrive and the website doesn't like UK credit cards so you might want to phone them. If you are going to the States or know someone who is I'd try and get them to bring you one back (you'll need to sort out the order in advance) as the bare cost is incredible value for money.

Thanks, that sounds pretty good! The Noah one costs $168.95 which comes out as £95, so with shipping + duty I guess it's closer to the £150 mark.
Do you know if I have it sent privately, will the customs still add the Duty to it or does it go through without it since it's not sent by a buisness? When i've had stuff sent from friends before there was never any duty on it, but then the value of it was much lower too.

I too use a Noah, but got it from www.bigskycarcovers.com/ who did take my credit card.
I think it worked out about £130 all in.
The best thing about Noah's is that they provide some anti-knock padding as well as weatherproofing.

When I got mine the £ converted at $1.87 which helped (I guess you'd get $1.73 now).
As to import duty, this is levied at the Post Office. I don't know the precise arrangements (clearly some parcels escape attention) but the Post Office acts as import agent and sends you a bill which I paid by phone so they would release the parcel.

Got mine here I think 6 yrs old still going strong. I think it was just over £100, oddly they don't publish prices

They had an online form to get quotes that I filled out yesterday and got an email back today, £269 + £8.50P&P, so having one sent from the US would save well over £100.
