avi Video transfer
Discussion
I;ve got a problem.
I have just transferred a video (in avi format) from my camcorder onto my pc. The file plays perfect. However, I have transferred it onto a disc, using a cd copier (not dvd copier), and it doesn't play correctly. Its plays the file very jerky, including the sound track. Is this because its not a dvd disc/dvd copier?
Thanks.

once you've copied it to the disc are you subsquently viewing it on your PC? And is your operating system XP? If the above is true, there is a chance what is happening is XP is trying to get a thumbnail image whilst you are viewing the movie - make sure either the thumbnails are loaded or turn the folder view into list/detailed/icon rather than thumbnail.
If thats not the case, what did you burn it with and did it take any longer - the program maybe re-compressing it (thats doubtful mind). I used to find on older machines it was wise to burn things like this and music at a slower rate as it results in a much better quality copy (transfer rates).

AVI's from a DV cam use about 3.5Mbyte/sec (with I assume this is). Streaming this data rate off a CD is borderline to be honest. Coupled with the fact that CD reading on some PC's uses quite a bit of CPU, playing off CD just doesn't work.
so theres nothing i can do.
