Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 DI-DC

So after a weekend looking at some Range Rovers with my uncle he’s seen a Shogun that he fancies. Okay it’s not a Range Rover but he’s not keen on spending £££ fixing the Range Rover if and when it goes wrong.
I’ve done a little research and a Diamond seems to be the top spec with the 3.2 diesel. Other than rust what are the problem areas.

I had headlight issues which would have cost £1500 to fix!! Gearbox oil pipe leaks can be common too.
Other than that they are very industrial but also really solid cars. I’d say much more suited to rough and ready rural roads, horrible on motorways and fuel economy is really poor.
I didn’t keep mine long, when I started having to do more motorway drives and also stopped traversing the types of dirt roads loaning horses necessitated, I decided the compromise wasn’t worth it. Finding the type of roads these shine on are few and far between.

They are more agricultural old school 4x4, interiors have a fair bit of plastic so easier to keep clean after a day in rain or mud. Turning circle on older ones was pretty poor and 3.2 drinks diesel without producing a huge amount of power and doesnt sound very smooth. Very reliable and the plastics are really thick so hard wearing if you need it.
