At my front door I have an light with an LED bulb in it.

Its controlled by a single switch.

I have taken the switch off and behind is L and N.

I have a Fibaro dimmer module so I have wired this up as usual but the light just remains on all the time, no matter which was I turn the switch.

The dimmer module is doing nothing in the app, if I try and turn it on or off it does seem to respond in the app but the light just stays constantly on and dimming functions do nothing.

I have had a look online and it seems the bulb might need a bypass (think its just a big resistor?).

Fibaro make one called a bypass. The only issue is, in the wiring diagram it shows the bypass between the bulb.

The problem is the light fitting is a)4m+ above ground level and b) looks like if I touch it then I might well bring down a load of plaster / do damage to the ceiling. This I defo do not want to do.

So my question is, after all this ... can I put the load simply in series on the neutral at the switch or will this do nothing? I think it will do nothing..

No ideas for a name

It is most likely not a L+N, more likely a L in and switched live back out to the lamp.

To save any faffing about I have just ordered a Hue G125. Easier and quicker. I will use the dimmer somewhere else. Cheers guys.
