Is it just me or are the majority of other drivers jealous that we have better cars, every time I venture out for a blast I get people pulling out in front of me, slowing me down on purpose, then giving their windscreen a heavy blast of water in attempt to soak me, after I overtake them the customary flashing of headlights and beeping of the horn to display their disapproval of me overtaking them. I just don’t understand why they are so hell bent on making Elise owners lives a pain.

Dont let it stress you out dude. Most people in this country are ignorant, rude, lazy, inconsiderate and a little bit thick. You just have to get by the best you can.

I never get this?! In fact...I get the opposite - people actively letting me out, trying to make most space if I want to over take. You'd think it would be the other way round for me - I'm 24, spikey hair, so probably right on people's "I hate boy racer" hit list.

I agree, people are generally very polite to the 'liz.

It is a bit strange, in my old Del Sol I would get the negative behaviour that Markie is talking about but if my wife drives it she is let out and waved on, only positive!

When I was a lad, I did up a mk1 Mr2, not boy racer style, just had the paint sorted and always clean. I could guarentee that at least every 3-4 months it would get "keyed" from end to end.

There are plenty of jealous morons without the will to do something with thier lives who think that if they cant have it, you cant have it. I just dont seem to find them in the 'liz. Admititly I do not park on the street (at all) and am anal if I go into a supermarket and do so very rarely. I have also been known to pay car park attendents extra to keep an eye out for the car.

I see this as money well spent 'cos if I caught the person damaging my car, I would go to prison for my actions.

Same here very very rare - just an occasional idiot.

Had one last week who was waiting behind a parked car to let me pass and shouted 'slow down' as I approcehd, I was traveling slowly so I stopped opposite his open window and said very politley 'sorry I missed what you said' he looked a bit miffed and said 'your going too fast' As I was stopped at the time and had stopped with minimal effort from around 10mph I think I had proved my point so just said 'Ah right' and drove on.

Looking at it parked up on the drive later he may have a point it looks like its speeding when its stopped!

As I'm sure you know there are w*nkers in all walks of life, owning an Elise sadly doesn't insulate you from those of them who insist on this kind of stupid behaviour.

Don't let it stress you out. I find that just driving in a measured way and letting driver skill and the cars superb dynamics do the talking.

After the second flash of headlights and honk of their horn I'm usually going round the next bend never to see or hear them again

Yeh - I was on my way to work the other day with the roof off and some bloke leant out his window and shouted "f**king poser" at me.

Nice to still be thought of as fashionable enough to be a poser.

However, people who deliberately slow down to 20mph in the 60mph zones in Hampshire just because I pull up behind them in a lotus do get my goat! I saw an advert for a military surplus chieftain tank for £3000 - any takers for a group buy? - we could lend it out to take revenge on all these suckers who dedicate themselves to annoying us on the roads. We could evn put a lotus badge on it!

I find the best way to reply to an over zelous driver , who is hell bent on getting his point across to you, be it verbal or hand gesture, is to totally agree with them !
Whatever you do, don`t blow a kiss back as this annoys, calmly smile and agree, they quite simply don`t know how to respond.
Try it, it works ..........!

Having reread the post and thought about it a bit, the positive comments and the admiring looks one gets, outweigh any negative behaviour by 20 to 1 easily.

The problem is that a few people just set out to cause grief - often the ones who should count their blessings for the support they do get. (I have had tyres on my wife's car slashed twice this year - £500 a time)

I'm on my 6th year of ownership now and have never experienced aggro from other drivers, just flashed lights on a couple of occasions. I find it frequently helps at junctions etc too.
