997 Alloy Wheel Options
Discussion
I'm doing some suspension work on the 997 Turbo over the winter and would like to finish off with a nice set of alloys. The OE 997.1 Turbo wheels are a bit rubbish so on a lowered car I think they need to be swapped out.
I've not seen a thread for a while on this, but also the market has changed a lot with a lot of discontinued products and some new options. I guess this could equally apply to 996 and 991 as they'll all look broadly the same, but looking for some inspiration and guidance on latest options.
Original plan was to copy the 997.2 Turbo & Turbo S and find some nice BBS CH-R but they don't seem available in the right size anymore so unless a used set come up then that's a no-go. I think that 'Spider' design is fairly ubiquitous now so any other options that work are welcome. I think the Apex and HRE options are too pricey really though, I really want to not pay through the nose as I'm not fused about weight or structure, more of a nice design that is similar or the same as the original factory designs.
I really fancy the look of the Oz Ultraleggera as they're a copy of the 997.2 GT3RS wheel, so I'm leaning that way at the moment. I can get them in Weiss Gold off the shelf with proper arch-filling offset as well.
Any inspiration or pics? Everyone loves a wheel thread right?

The more I look at my Lobsters the move I love them, however its gone through waves in the past, thought they looked great when they came out then thought they looked a bit podgy and now back to full love.
However, doesn't mean they won't get replaced here either. I love a BBS CH-R wheel
Also been looking at BC Forged Wheels

I'm also on the search for updated alloys - as I have a 997 C4S on Carrera Classic 19's - which I think date it. If you decide to sell the .1 Turbo's I'd be interested in a price.I've not seen a thread for a while on this, but also the market has changed a lot with a lot of discontinued products and some new options. I'm not a fan of the OZ's - but there is a set on the bay for a very good price (no connection)

My favourite is the BBS CH-R, but quite difficult to find even second-hand and expensive.

Yeah saw those, the seller sadly ended the listing early because of an error I'm not a fan of the OZ's - but there is a set on the bay for a very good price (no connection)

In other news, I picked up a lovely set of black OZ Ultraleggeras yesterday which are shortly to be repainted in Weiss Gold.
Like you, I wasn't a fan of the original wheels. I fitted Apex EC-7RS to my Turbo. These are 19x9" ET50 and 19x12" ET63 with 255/35/19 and 325/30/19 PS4S.
There is a set of these wheels in these specs on clearance at Tegiwa at the moment.
The quality is great. They are super light and the offset is just perfect IMO. Plenty of sidewall too. I have had nothing but compliments on these wheels and they really bring the car up to date.

Call me old, cynical or what have you, but I’d be sticking with OEM if I were you. Get them refurbed in a colour of choice and they’ll set the car off. If you’re looking at swapping BBS LM or E88 at circa £10k fine, but you’ve already got the best set of wheels for your car.

I kind of agree, you can't go wrong with OEM, but if you are going to keep it original then they need to be original. Metallic grey with diamond cut face. I appreciate the 997 has achieved classic status, but I don't think the original Turbo wheels are the finest feature of the car. The offset can be improved (spacers help) and despite being forged they are very heavy.

Just look at some of the pics here, those Apex’s look awesome as do the CH-Rs. They’re also identical designs to OEM spyder wheels so can look original, and they have proper offsets. Each to their own but a nice set of wheels on a 997 can really modernise it.
