Help required please,
The OH has been out in the car, and I hear that she is locked out with the keys in it.

I pop along with the spare key - the fob lights the led when a button pressed, but nothing happened to the car. I dismantled, pulled out the actual key to open the car.

The spare key will not trigger or activate the car though. "Key fob not recognised' etc.
I tried as per the norm (for example) and nothing happens.

The 'original / locked inside' key works fine though,

2 questions:

1. How would the car lock with the keys inside / no one 'locking the car'
2. Any ideas why the spare key I brought from home wont recognise / work via the buttons?

(as an side - the location, horse yard in the countryside, where my wife was when the car locked itself. Another lady had a Freelander 1, engine running, and it too locked itself - with the keys in at the same time. WTF?)

Possibly someone with a jammer or someone broadcasting on the same frequency as the key fobs operate on. we have the same problem at our local shopping centre car park where people are unable to lock or unlock their vehicles. It's happening too frequently and to more than one car at a time for it be anything other than a deliberate action by someone.

I can't recall the detail but I think there's some sequence of use with keys that can confuse the immobiliser.

There's a service measure software update on kessy equipped VW Group cars to do with keys being locked in the car - wife's 22 Karoq had it at service in June.

And Google suggests locking and unlocking with the key too ?

Obvs when I tried earlier - I could get in with the key but I he alarm went off and would not start with Key set number 2

Stupid question: do we know that the spare key has ever worked?

Plenty of times I've seen spares ordered (blade pre-cut) but never actually coded to the car.

Thanks - sorry for delay away with work-

Not a daft question but yes Key does / has worked fine

Is there any reason for it to fall out of favour ?? None of the hardware has been changed of Key or the immobiliser / alarm afaik

Key left with a flat battery for extended time, fault with kessy module, locksmith tampered with it, security update been applied without both keys present, key damaged/wet?

Possibly left with a flat battery for a few weeks, but I dont think so.

Kessy Module (in the key or the car?)

No one has tampered with it - left in a draw in the hallway

No Security updates AFAIK

No damage or water (see drawer comment)

A trip to town and called in to our VAG Indy.

They believe I need to drop the car in for a few hours and it all gets patched in to Audi / Germany to align all the keys again.
£75

Sound about right ?

Have you tried to sync the key yourself? You don't say which model but instructions should be in handbook.

They suggested this is not viable - it is a 2016 Audi A6 (C7)
