I have a PC I built and I have always had trouble with it. It is around a year old and I have had enough.
I want to be able to copy DVDs for work. ( We have a bunch of pictures we send out on 1 DVD ) I have always had problems with the IDE drives and have tried just about everything. I recently changed my drives from TDK to pioneer 109. Re installed Windows and had a priblem with Nero. Now I have the problem again of the drive not reconising data on disks, remembering the last disk data even with a new disk in, and duplicating software freezing up. I have ditched Nero and am trying Pinical instant CD/DVD and that has now frozen and is not responding.
I have noticed the DVD player is IDE 33. The DVD recorder is IDE 66 and the HDD is IDE 100, if it makes a jot..............
Should I cut and run with a new motherboard, chip and memory or what?
This is really pi55ing me off.

Nero issue is most likely that you have a slightly older version and need to download the latest update (free) from their website...

Have you got the DVD-R set to primary, and the DVD set to slave - on the same IDE channel.

On the other IDE channel, the HDD should be set to primary.

DVD rw is primary, on the 2nd channel. Hdd is primary with the dvd player as slave on the 1st channel

Get some high quality ATA100 cables, brand new and replace the ones you have.
