Hello all...
This might be a daft question but if I renewed our home insurance with another provider for the wrong date, and we have a gap of just 1 day... does that create a problem with insurer or mortgage provider?

Only if it burns down on that day.

I was thinking more along the lines of a continuous insurance clause or some such thing.

Your mortgage provider will insist on insurance being in force but if it is only a one day gap then there isn't anything to worry about.

And there's no compulsory insurance on buildings so no other issues.

I always thought that there was an issue with eg a subsidence claim if there is a gap (even one day) in buidings insurance.

The new insurer could say that the problem existed when the insurance was taken out so not covered.

The chances of a loss during the 24 hours you are uninsured is probably small but why risk it ?
Just ask the new Insurer to change the inception date so that the expiring and new policies run concurrently.

Surely preferred option is to get on the phone to the insurer and see if you can bring it forward by a day?
