Off to oslo this week, tues, flying for 1p, well £23 including taxes :) But only realised after I had booked the tickets that we aren't flying to the local airport but to a one about 110km from the centre of oslo. bummer.

Anyway anyone been? any tips/hints where to go what to see. Is it really as expensive as everyone makes out.

Cheers ROb

I've been to Bergen. (Not hols, but work), and the beer was very expensive, as was most things.. The bars are funny..there are 18+ bars, with just lager/beer, and 21+ bars that sell beer + spirits! They did nice ribs though!

Been past it, inasmuch as I took the Moss-Horten ferry to bypass it. The only piece of motorway in Norway is just outside Oslo; all 5 km of it. Useless fact of the week, that was, in case you missed it.

So no; I've never been

Nice place but pretty small - sea food is great though (though if you arent into it then it can be a little dull). Food and beer can and is expensive, accomodation is also expensive. Fuel is the same cost as here but be warned the roads can be very busy outside of the city as there isnt that many motorways.....

Nice place though and Norgies are a sociable and friendly bunch. They can seem quite off-ish though, but this isnt intentional just cultural.....

Which airprt are you flying into, is it Torp? If so then get either the bus or taxi to the station (Sanjeford I think) then train it into Oslo. Takes a couple of hours.

Expensive? Don't know about goinf out in Oslo as we stayed with friends in the sticks, but a beer in the airport was £8.

Great place and public transport is really good, last time I went I got a bit lost and the bloke emptying the bins asked in perfect english if he could help and he put me on the right train.

Cant see that kind of service in the UK....
