Old Evo magazines - normal vs collectors edition?
Discussion
Hopefully a simple one. There's a couple of old Evo mags I'd like to buy however I noticed that the same issue number appears to have a 'normal' version and a 'collectors' edition.
Any regular readers of the mag able to advise what the difference is? Is it just the front cover, or does anything else differ between them?
Many thanks

Not sure if the same applies to Evo, but for the (non-motoring) mag I used to work for, the collector's edition went to subscribers and had nice front covers with minimal text and a photo chosen for its artistic merit, while the regular edition went on the newsstand and had cover lines and a photo calculated to catch the eye of punters browsing in the shop. That's interesting, makes sense too. That sounds in line with what I've seen for Evo. The above two mags look to be the regular edition. I've found the same issues as collectors edition and they essentially have what you're describing; less text, more focused on the photo, etc.mischmaster said:

Ah nice one. Not sure how much you'd be after for them or if it's even worth your time to mess around posting them to be honest unless you're ever at any PH meets. I can get both on eBay for a tenner posted.K50 DEL said:
Yep, as noted above only the cover is different from the subscribers editions, everything else is the same
As an aside though, issue 88 predates the separation between the 2 types of mag, so for that issue there will be no difference at all.
088 does still seem to be different, less text, bigger text at the top etc. on the collectors edition. As an aside though, issue 88 predates the separation between the 2 types of mag, so for that issue there will be no difference at all.

I was going to give them to you for free although I'm not for the time being able to get to the Post Office to send. Your probably better off to get the ones on eBay in that case unless your ever in the South Hertfordshire/ EN6 area, when your more than welcome to pick them up.
Oh thank you, much appreciated. I'll go for the ones on eBay but I really appreciate the gesture it's very kind of you. Would be a shame to offset your collection by two magazines in any case, but if you are keen on getting rid of them all, there's definitely a market out there for re-selling them. Seem to average about £4-6 each on eBay.Good to see the old Performance Car and Supercar Classics.
Imagine calling a magazine 'Performance Car' now, you'd be cancelled and deported for a serious crime of inciting harm to the environment.
I ended up throwing loads of my old magazines away because nobody wanted them, even free, and I couldn't be bothered advertising/posting.

I'm not sure what to do with them yet. Like you, I don't want to throw them away but there's too many to list individualy. Plus there's a lot more other ones in boxes that I still need to sort out. I did exactly the same , whole collection of evo went to re cycling.Imagine calling a magazine 'Performance Car' now, you'd be cancelled and deported for a serious crime of inciting harm to the environment.

I asked on a couple of forums if anyone wanted them or if specific issues to send me a self addressed pre paid envelope but I reckon the lack of trust these days means no ones gonna give you their address , even if it is for something free , that said , someone on here once missed an edition of eve and asked if anyone had one and I gladly posted it in his pre paid envelope .
He also had the manners to thank me .

Cost me £100 and £20 in fuel to collect but netted me issues 1-10 that I was missing (probably £400 worth there) and various others that I had lost along the way.
I've then been selling the spare issues one by one on Ebay and, so far have made about £300 back, I still have over 100 issues left to sell so there is a market for them, it just takes time.

I wish I had the energy to do that but unfortunately I haven't. Such a shame to throw them away which I really don't want to do. Definitely still got all the early issues from number one onwards.Cost me £100 and £20 in fuel to collect but netted me issues 1-10 that I was missing (probably £400 worth there) and various others that I had lost along the way.
