Good afternoon,

I am after some inspiration.

My wife and I have this Fri - Sun available to go away (without the kids).

Some detail:

Can leave anytime on Fri and return anytime on Sun.
UK or abroad.
Ideally departing / returning to London but not essential.
Train ideal but can drive but don't want to have hours to get back from somewhere (York would be good but Sun trains are a mess with rail works)

Ideas so far:

Eurostar to Lille or Bruges.
Coolstays - make the accom the centre piece. Thinking tree house, old fort etc.
Secretescapes - perhaps a spa / country house stay.
Fly to Europe - flights are not brilliant but could be made to work.

What have I missed in terms of 'good ideas'?

Thank you.

Bruges is nice for one day one night , but not more in my view .
It's a nice little place but is small.

We are in Bruges this weekend (with the kids). Eurotunnel then driving as only an hour or so from Calais and about 1/5th the price of the eurostar when we looked.

By all accounts it's a great little city for a weekend break, especially this time of year.

I won't report back as by then it will be too late!

If you didn’t get to Bruges, make sure you go at some point. It is gorgeous. Ideal for a leisurely break, the shops are beautiful, the food is sublime (the portions are almost grotesquely big) the town itself is so clean easy to navigate. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
