The kids have traditionally had Amazon Fire Kid tablets - but they seem to be outgrowing them a bit and it'd be nice to have access to Play Store & some other bits & pieces without having to jump through loads of hoops.

However I don't want to spend hundreds on a new tablet so have been eyeing up the cheaper android ones on Amazon... from the likes of Doogee and Umidigi etc

Are they any good? Will they do the job & can you just set them up on a kids google account?

You’d be better with a tablet from Samsung or Lenovo. I used to have Amazon tablets side loaded with the play store but they were not the easiest to use and quite slow.

There’s some in the Black Friday sale, quite a big discount:

Lenovo Tab M10 (3rd Gen)

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9

Got three Doogee one's ... would certainly buy again. Feel free to ask any questions

Had multiple tablets from Samsung and Lenovo in the past (and Amazon Fire's) and £ for £ the Doogees are a much better solution.

It's just for the kids to watch Youtube on, play games and a bit of internet browsing for school stuff.

That's pretty much it.

Was only looking at the £60-80 sorta range

Heads up for anyone doing this. The Lenovo is cheaper at Argos and has been for the last month.

I've had both Lenovo & Samsung 8 inch tablets for sat nav & video player on holiday and I much prefer the Lenovo ones.

That said, my current one is a Blackview Tab 60 tablet - moved to it for more Ram. Works fine.

Op,

If it helps any, it takes about 10 minutes to add play store to a kindle fire.

Question:

How much Doogee (or other) bloatware that you cant delete, is there on the Doogee tablets?

not expecting naked android, but would be nice to have control of my own tech.......

thanks

You can probably remove it all, if not you will be able to flash a cleaner version of Android on it.

Samsung Tab A of some sort, you can get them for under 100 quid second hand, perfectly fine for kids. I have 4 kids, all with Tab A's, bar some screens being smashed the tablets have been robust, especially considering they get dropped and walked over regular. Some are 4+ years old now and still working fine.

Use Google Family Link to control access and time limits as well, all works great.

I have a couple of A series Samsung tablets controlled with Family Link for the kids and they have been great.

I bought mine refurbished, this may get an A series in your budget.

We plumped for the x 2 of the Doogee tablets at about £70 each.

They are awful. Absolutely terrible, slow, unresponsive - shockingly bad.

One of them died this week, just got stuck in a reboot loop, flashing on and off, wouldn't reboot, wouldn't do anything even after letting the battery run out.

Amazon to be fair have refunded & returned.

Will now need to replace, Fire HD10 is currently on offer at £100 - any views on it? (I've realised not having play store isn't the end of the world and I can side load if I have too)

Or any other options available at the mo around the £100 mark?

Or just sort the whole lot out with this. Easy and quick.

I've got a cheap (£100) Lenovo from Argos and it's fine for general stuff. Actually, I don't know what it wouldn't be fine for. By general stuff, I mean watching videos and playing games. I guess if you're doing 4k video rendering, it would be slow but then you'd probably be better off doing it on a desktop with a 32" screen, anyway.

I've been using this for over 3 years

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08WRCYD8M?ref_=ppx_hz...

it works fine. I only use it at home so there's no need for a sim.

Lenovo M10 2nd gen.

The £100 spot is tricky for tablets, they are going to be low spec.
This seems pretty good, 8gb ram will help overcome the rather old snapdragon cpu.
Currently £129 for the 8gb/256gb option. Plus there appears to be a £15 off £100 tablet coupon.
