Hi All

I'd like to put some garden lights in our back garden. I've done this before ran cable with tee's off for stake lights and GU10s.

I wonder this time of there's a 'plug and play' type system. I am imagining a cable with a pre terminated end, into which you can plug a light (of which there might be a few options), and I can add as many or as few lights, extra runs of cable, and everything is pre terminated, and it's a Smart System working with Alexa.

Am I asking too much or does this already exist?

I've had a search on here, but not found much, but then the threads were 4 years old and tech has moved on a lot in that time.

Thanks.

Any recommendations at all?

Phillips Hue

We added 6 of these onto the driveway and just ask Alexa to run the drive lights on whenever we need it

https://www.philips-hue.com/en-gb/p/hue-white-tura...

There's loads of options they have for outdoor lights other than these ones. We also have these in the garden as accent lights for the trees again, controlled by Alexa and they are pre-wired and just connect together. From memory, they have (I think) a 10M cable run between them

https://www.philips-hue.com/en-gb/p/hue-white-and-...

They are simple to connect together

Not cheap, but idiot proof - As I managed to get them to work ! biggrin

Not cheap at all, hoping there's competition at a more reasonable price.

Checkout Govee

https://uk.govee.com/?utm_campaign=search_govee&am...

I got bored of putting up/taking down xmas lights, so prior to last xmas fitted strings of these along my soffits. Other than xmas (or other events) they're programmed to be all white and accent the house well during the evenings/nighttime. Govee has quite a bit ecosystem - inc stuff for the garden. I will be buying the garden lights soon.

The app is great and if you're lazy (like me) you can simply download and install other peoples ideas lighting ideas (ie dozens of "xmas themes") in a matter of seconds.

Thank you. Strangely, it looks like their garden spotlights are a US only product which is slightly annoying. As I've received good customer service from them previously.

Found them but £60 for two lights?

Maybe I just buy normal ones and add on a smart plug?

Does it have to be a smart system? I installed garden lights with a sensor that detects lack of sunlight and switches them on at night. It can be set to switch of after 4, 6 or 8 hours or when the sun comes back up. Job jobbed.

We used techmar

https://gardenlightshop.com/?gad_source=1&gbra...

It just plugs into a hive adaptor, however I’ve started to use Tapo sockets as they are cheaper.

I have a mixture of Philips Hue and Govee for outside. The Govee are just as good in my opinion and significantly cheaper than Hue.

Think we will be doing similar, with a similar but different brand, can't recall the name.

It's called LYCO.

"Dumb" easily expandable 12V lighting
Plugged into a smart wall socket.
The smart wall socket will then be able to be switched on and off using Alexa
But the socket will also be able to be used normally by physical switch
