Frozen car doors

When it's a very cold frosty morning both doors on my mini are always frozen solid. It takes me a long time and a lot of brute force to open them.

Is there anything I could do to make them easier to open? Thanks.

Vaseline the seals

Use a watering can of tepid, room temperature water to deice

Lukewarm water got me into my frameless 440i convertible this morning in about 20 seconds. It was frozen to the point where the windows wouldn’t drop.

I used a pry bar this morning!
I wouldn't use vaseline, it's not kind on rubber... sexlube is safe for rubber

Silicone spray on the door seals usually sorts it.

Bit worrying with Subaru's frameless windows.

I've wiped on and polished off the seals with some Mr Sheen type spray this afternoon, did have some proper rubber treatment but blowed if i can find it, will see if any better in the morning, if no joy i'll order some of the magic stuff in the link above.

hot water from the tap in an old 2 litre pop bottle - been doing it for years as the neighbours scrape away

Water's ok for de-icing, except it turns your driveway into a skating rink when you've cleared off.

I use warm water to melt the ice on the windows and door
frame .. use as little as possible with a kitchen beaker.

Yep. Also revived the roof seals on Mrs 404s Focus cabriolet. Good stuff.
(Gummi Pflege, not the Focus CC. That was crap.)

Pure Glycerin oil applied to the seals.

I've struggled with my frameless doors on the M4 for the last couple of days as well. It has been a battle to get them to drop, plus the door handle wasn't easy to open this morning either.

It is definitely fun and games in this weather for sure.
