Im trying to understand why DLG is up 30% or so after a proposed offer.

I have some ideas why but wanted to know if anyone had some insight to share.

Thanks

Because the market thinks there's a good chance Aviva will come back with another bid that Direct Line shareholders will want the company to engage with.

I did think this, I assume that Aviva know the real target share price for the sale?

From the conversations they're having with banks advising them and with major DLG shareholders (to whom this bid probably won't have been a surprise), yes Aviva should have a good idea of what they'd need to stump up to get it over the line. Although what the CMA might make of it is another thing.

Does look like it's happening. I'm not impacted directly but work in the industry.

DLG have been on the side and bloated for a long time.

All feels a bit fishy with CEO and his merry men/women moving over in the recent couple of months.
