I was in the tyre fitters last night and picked up a leaflet about a tyre test done by EVO magazine. Bridgestone Potenza came 7th out of 8, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 won. Anyone tried them? The retailers then went on to promote Avons and they came in 8th!
Any comments?

Neil Andersen has been heard to recommend F1's especially if you do a significant number of track days.

The factory are using them on some of the new models. They are their preferred choice in the absence of Bridgestones. That is what they told me anyway.

Avons are fitted to the Tamora when on standard 16" alloys, the general consensus seems to be good in the dry, good in the wet, not so good when it is slightly damp! The Toyos feel very similar to the SO2 Bridgestone with a little more compliancy in the sidewalls.

Toyo are indeed the preferred tyre for TVR, in fact Neil is in Japan this week discussing tyres (what else ) with the chaps at Toyo. He is working on the idea of getting a specific tyre made up to TVR's specification for their cars. R...

I'm on the Goodyear F1 and I like em. I've tried Toyo and Fulda and Bridgestone too.

Don't forget that the tests were all done on a front-drive car. The tyres won't feel or behave the same on a TVR in completely different sizes! The EVO test also had a high percentage of it's marks awarded on subjective view of testers.
