Dateless Registrations are proud to offer for sale a very highly coveted dateless registration, WO 5 for sale exclusively via ourselves.

WO 5 is a letters first, original issue 1927 Monmouthshire number plate. These are a very rare find due to so few of the original 'WO' numbers remaining in existence now they're nearing 100 years old.

The initials, 'WO' are famously connected with Walter Owen Bentley who preferred to be known as WO.

WO 1 has not been on a car for many years sold earlier this year at RM Sothebys for £220,000 at auction which is much higher than many of these two letter number one plates sell for at auction due to the Bentley connection. Any guesses as to who got this and what car it will be going on? 😉

WO 2 is registered to a wonderful Aston Martin DB6

WO 3, WO 4, WO 6, WO 7 and WO 8 are no longer on vehicles and could be scrapped.

WO 9 is on a Mercedes.

The above numbers are super prime, blue chip numbers.

The, usually less valuable, recent auction issue numbers such as 1 - 9 WO were auctioned off in the 1990's by the DVLA.

You'll never see anything like this when searching 3 character numbers - better than a Royal Flush.

1 WO is famous for being owned by Bentley themselves and currently adorns one of their new vehicles.

2 WO is for sale at £150,000 by the renowned Bentley specialist Marlow cars. Currently on a Rolls Royce

3 WO is on retention

4 WO is on a Bentley

5 WO is on a Bentley

6 WO is on a Bentley

7 WO is on a Bentley

8 WO is on a Mercedes - only a matter of time!

9 WO is on a Rolls Royce.

For those of you, like us, that are interested in auto numerology here is why we feel this cherished registration is a top tier number:

The most expensive British car ever sold at auction was, at one time, the 1929 4.5 litre 'Blower' Bentley when it was sold for £5m in 2012. The most valuable Bentleys are dated between 1928-1931 such as the 1928 Bentley Bobtail valued around $7.5m, the 1931 Bentley 2 Seater Supercharged and the 1930 Speed Six Sportsmans Saloon (our favourite).

The 1927 issue 'WO 5' will make a period correct, fitting tribute to any such motor car.

Or perhaps this would add the finishing touch to a new Batur or Bacalar with a nod to the past.
