Lots of stories of failed engines on this on the forums. JLR being avoided by most of their long term faithful now.

You’ll struggle to get any loss of earnings but you should be able to make them buy it back for a reasonable price given how useless it’s been and I wouldn’t have settled for a replacement any less capable of towing as a courtesy car.

Just make sure you learn the lesson and don't buy a LR product again.

Enough people do though so I guess they'll carry on coming bottom of most reliability surveys.

I was hoping it was going to be. underpowered and overpriced. less spec, less power and the same money as a defender?

the only lesson ive learnt is to buy with finance and probably through a dealer? would a buy another? absolutely. when they're working they're fantastic.

Is it overpriced when you consider yours has been off the road for 8 months ?

I don’t get this either, it’s been broken at a dealers for 8 months out of 12 and you’d happily have another describe it as ‘fantastic’? Madness to me. It would have been sold long ago and replaced with something the furthest away from JLR I could find if it was me.
