Over £3m of cars sold on PH auctions
Our auction platform is about to complete its first full lap around the sun. Here's how it's going
December is finally upon us and that can only mean one thing: we’re all about to do a load of unwrapping. And not just the present kind, either. Right about now, Spotify will be reminding you of songs you spent an embarrassing amount of time listening to over the last 12 months, while Facebook’s Year In Review typically serves as a reminder to go outside more often. So we thought it’d be a fun idea to do our own ‘unwrapped’ for PistonHeads auctions to round up a year of gavel-bashing.
After dipping our toes in the auction pool last year, we’ve been scaling the business through 2024 to bring you more cars to choose from and, hopefully, spur more PHers into placing a bid. And it looks as though we’re on the right track, with over £3m worth of premium, performance and collectable cars successfully selling through PistonHeads auctions in 2024.
Naturally, we’ve got all the key bases covered, from German icons like this E46 BMW M3 CS, to V12 GTs such as this glorious Aston Martin DBS and everything in between. Of course, we’ve had a good deal of Lotus Elises and TVRs go under the hammer, a number of classics ranging from this sublime Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v to the sublime Porsche 911S that caught Jonny Smith’s eye on the Smith and Sniff podcast, plus the odd special edition like this rally-inspired Alpine A110 Tour de Corse. Talk about variety.
However, while the rest of world winds down on the run up to Christmas and New Year’s, we’re keeping our right foot firmly planted so you can mull over auction cars while gulping mulled wine and mince pies. With that in mind, we’re extending the ‘coming soon’ window from seven to 14 days during the festive period so that you don’t miss out on nabbing the car of your dreams. That said, we think our consigners deserve a break, so the final auction is due to end on Wednesday 18th December, though you’ll still be able to ponder over our first batch of 2025 before they go under the gavel on 5th January.
On that note, January auction slots are filling up fast and December’s fully booked, so be sure to contact our consignment team if you’re looking to sell in the New Year. The PH consignment office will be closed from 25th through to 1st January, so get in touch today to check availability. For bidders, we’ll be making some small adjustments to our buyers fee, which remains at 6% + VAT. From 1st January, the minimum buyers premium will increase to £695 + VAT to bring us in line with the rest of the industry and the previous cap will be removed. As before, there’s no premium for sellers, so you get 100 per cent of the hammer price.
So, there you have it, a little insight into our first full year of PistonHeads auctions. We’d like to thank everyone who listed their cars on our auction platform in 2025, and to those who placed a bid or made an offer, winning or not. There’s still time left to contact our consignment team if you’re looking to free up some driveway space, as we’ve got thousands on the lookout for their next dream car - especially if they’re up a few glasses of ‘festive cheer’.

They’ve also removed the guide price from the auctions, so we have no idea of what the seller might be expecting.
All in all, if it keeps PH going then great, but it’s not for me.
Price wasn't exactly what i hoped for, but - subsequent R8s sold elsewhere showed it to be spot on. I felt my car would just be a drop in the ocean over on Collecting Cars, but - with PH they promoted the hell out of it, and it was even mentioned on Intercooler podcast...
