The boss has been given some extra holiday that needs to be taken in the last 2 weeks of March, only 7 days away.
Now she wants some sunshine, enough to lay around the pool or beach. And finally doesn’t want more than a 4 hour flight.
Preference would be smaller boutique type hotel not against booking hotel and flights separately.
My first thought was Egypt, but she’s worried about security etc.
We have a trip booked in May going to Turkey so we’ve ruled that out.
Any suggestions?

Egypt (unless you go far south) won't be that warm end of March anyway. Within four hours rules out Tenerife, which would be your best bet. Leaves you with Spain.

March = risky from a weather perspective in the Med

I'd be "interpreting" the 4 hour requirement as including the Canaries as that is where you will get the best of the weather / warmest pools etc.

I went to Sharm mid-March this year and it was baking. It would be my choice for guaranteed sunshine for a fly and flop. Was very good value too. No enhanced security risks over and above the usual either.

Sharm isn't guaranteed. I've been 5 times and twice it was too cold to sunbathe in a chilly wind. Maybe I'm nesh. March can be warm certainly though. Wouldn't take the gamble personally. It's also at least 5 hours away!

Everywhere within 4 hours is risky. Parts of Spain saw 38c last April.

Canaries would be my bet if the OP can stretch flight length.

Malta might be quite nice in March, not roasting hot, but nice enough for a bit of sun. Plus you'll have no language problems.

In the spirit of PH I’ve found a fly drive, Marrakesh , west to the coast and then south to Agadir, then Mirleft - Taroudant back in a loop, now I have to sell it to the boss.

Good roads if you head south to the mountains. Avoid the souk in Marrakech centre at all costs, it's a complete nightmare to get stuck in.

The correct answer is Lanzarote.

If you want guaranteed warmth at that time of year you need to fly for longer than 4 hours, otherwise you risk disappointment.

I'm sure Tenerife was 'only' something like 4 hours 30 minutes when we went in September. For the sake of 30-45 minutes I would be looking at the Canaries.

Otherwise Cyprus or a Southern Greek island.

Crete is the southernmost Greek Island and it won’t be warm enough to sunbathe. It’s an average of 14C ish

Cyprus at the end of March can be hit and miss - we had a lovely week in 2018 in late March whilst some friends went the next year and had poor weather.

Likewise Lanzarote although Fuerteventura may be OK - we were there this year until early March and it was lovely - just make sure that you find somewhere out of the wind.

Tenerife would be my place of choice really.

We have been to Sal Island Cape Verde a number of times that time of year, always hot, plenty of good hotels and restaurants.
Trouble is it’s just over 5hrs in a TUi Dreamliner.

Thanks for all the suggestions, we’ve ruled out the fly drive in Morocco as it will be Ramadan and most of the restaurants will be shut. Cape Verde I think will be a bit of a long flight just for a week.
Probably just leaves one of the Canary islands.

I was in Tenerife from mid December to mid Jan last year.

Lowest was 19, but most days low 20s and quite often in the South it was 28/29.

In 40 days I had one rainy day.

If you decide on the Canaries, how about this in Lanzarote. https://www.hoteleselba.com/en/hotel/elba-premium-...
It’s the adults only section of a lovely holiday village. We have been there a number of times, highly recommended. BA holidays do a very good deal.

After a lot of faffing around we booked Fuerteventura, going with Jet2.
We’ve hired a car for the 9 days so hopefully have a good look around the island.
I was surprised that they deduct £50 from the holiday cost as your not using their transfer.

Huh? Not sure about Sharm but Hurghada is plenty hot enough late March. A daytime high in the mid to high 20s and lows in the mid to high teens confused
