Has anyone else noticed a huge increase in the amount of "trading up" style videos?

I have watched a few and although some are really good, others are admittedly terrible. My biggest Pet-peeve that I have is when they do a "full service"... erm mate, that is an oil filter and an air filter...

I wonder if some of the people that buy these cars realise the absolute sheds they have been sold?

thoughts?

I watch Jesse Collingham who is doing one. He's a nice enough chap, but his latest car seems a complete shed.

If someone says, who? I've given the blokes name, which is the name of the channel too.

One thing I hate is people who call their car their daily, or their daily driver. No it's your car, and you've probably got a weekend car / toy too.

Thats one of the ones that I have seen more recently.

blindfolded diagnostic dartboard with that Kia, funnily enough the "full service" I was referring to was his E-class he did.

I quite enjoy the Pennies to polestar by Emily Shields - its got some great cars so far, if a bit volvo heavy for some and a I really love JohnnyGetsCash for his trading up series for the varied cars and repairs he does.

Two of the comments in Jesse's video before he got the Scirocco MOT'd were,

State of those discs. That's my only problem with this channel. I love that you try but my god you miss some vital parts

Hello, I’m glad that you’re enjoying yourself and learning more about the cars you own, but I’d like to give you a few pieces of advice. When you replace parts of the suspension system, it’s important to clean everything from rust. In this case, your brake discs are in terrible condition. When you removed them, I didn’t notice you cleaning the area between the discs and the hub. This is dangerous because it can lead to disc misalignment, which might cause the discs to warp.

It’s better to replace the discs and brake pads, but before doing so, make sure to clean the hubs thoroughly. Also, the improvised bolts you installed on the headlight level sensors will either come loose or, if overtightened, break the level sensors, which will cause problems for the next owner.

In general, when you’re working on brakes, approach this task with great care. After all, the brakes are the only thing keeping the car from causing trouble on the road.

Best regards, and I hope you understand my points. (No hard feelings!)

Now, when you see them they are awful!
He gets it MOT'd and it passes, but he notices it pulls to one side when he brakes, and the brakes are shot. He could & should have done them before it went. But not only that, all four corners were bad.. he only did the front ones.

I think the wheels that are on it are far too big and it's far too low.

I like him but he needs to be more thorough. It'as not drama for YouTube, especially if he rear ends someone.

I haven't even seen the scirocco. I got bored of seeing every part under the sun thrown at the kia before actually taking it to someone who knows how to diagnose things.

Also he found out from the service advisor that the major misfire is normal... I wouldn't be listening to any service advisor about what is and Isn't normal - after all I worked with them and none of them had any technical knowledge, some of them didn't even drive...
