I am doing my nut in trying to convert pdf to doc

I have download Adobe, but it seems to want me to pay 16.00 a month , which my pocket will not stretch to

Isd there a free and easy to use alternative?

I've previously used smallpdf.com for one-off conversions. It used to give you five freebies a day (or something like that).

I've used I love pdf .com or something like that in the past for free. Will also do pdf to xlsx which is useful.

If it's a windows pc you can use Print Screen on the displayed (pdf) image then paste into word.

edit: didn't realise you wanted the text to be editable - assumed just a picture of the text in the word doc would do...

I've used Zamzar for really complicated pdfs with great success in the past

I was just about to post the same thing, that's the site I've used in the past too, for all sorts of format conversions. It struggled a bit with some larger manuals (hundreds of pages with screen shots interspersed) but that might have been Word sticking it's oar in afterwards. Generally, very good.

Another vote for zamzar. Been using it for years, and can pretty much convert anything to anything. Not always 100% accurate at the conversion, but more often than not, adequate.
