Oil companies employ thousands of chemists and do lots of research, to develop oils with the correct balance of polymer chains, lubrication properties, heat resistance, dirt retention, etc, for various different operating characteristics.
Personally, I believe that's enough. Why chuck in a tin of something else that's untested with that oil, and might or might not make a difference? It's cheaper (and IMHO safer) to buy a better quality tested oil in the first place.
It seems to me a bit like getting a top chef to cook you a perfect meal and then chucking in a tin of Heinz just to spice up the sauce a bit.
