I have insulated my polycarbonate conservatory roof. Kingspan between joists with air gap above and it's warmer.

But it's only slightly muted heavy rain.

What would work best to finish the ceiling and give some much needed soundproofing

I expect plasterboard would block out some noise but am not sure if it will be to heavy. 8mm Pvc cladding would be lighter but will there be much noise reduction.

I have even thought of just putting some roofing felt on the outside which would definitely block the noise.

Anyone have any advice on which option would be best?

You need to be careful of weight, mine has UPVC tongue and groove on the inside and it seems ok, still a little noisy if heavy rain but not as bad as it used to be.

It's a wooden conservatory so not sure if that's stronger than a uPVC one?

You need to add density so plasterboard would be your best bet.

Impossible to say whether the weight would be an issue however I doubt the conservatory will have been designed 'down' to reflect the significantly reduced weight of polycarb versus double glazing on the roof so I would probably just take a punt if I were you. A layer of 12.5mm pbd will be significantly lighter than double glazing.

Change the polycarb (light, stiff, hollow) for almost anything else. Glass works if you want clear, or just OSB board and felt/epdm?
