I posted this on the Cayman/Boxter board but a bit dead over there.

Gutted I missed out on this one below, called just as someone was viewing, gone now.

If anyone knows of anything similar in price and spec, please let me know. I did want those 20" 911 Turbo wheels though.

Been offer another one, almost the same, slightly lower mileage and has extended leather pack and a few other extras but missing electric seats and has 20 inch Carrera wheels, not as nice in my view, question is am I rushing into it or forget the wheels as may be able to change them later or will probably get to like the current one. I originally felt I was compromising but looks like the chances of finding the spec and price will be difficult, Any advice, I’m in no rush, plus the alternative is £1k more, any others worth considering?? I’m not interested in the older one, 4 cylinders are fine for me.

Since you asked, those wheels look hideous to me. I imagine it will drive better on some 19"s, they certainly look better to me. That example is almost suffering from Aussie Wheel Syndrome!

IMHO electric memory seats are really useful if you're going to be frequently sharing a car with someone else in your household / office / etc, otherwise if you'll be the only driver you can get the seat set right once and forget it, so manual is fine - and lighter, and often lets you sit lower, and one less thing to break. But generally I'd say to group possible options into must-haves vs nice-to-haves, and look for the best overall trade-off.

I assume the Cayman S 2.5T is out of budget - from the road tests it's worth the extra but obviously not if it's too dear.

Cheers I did see that S model but it’s 2016 and wheels and colour not to my taste. I’ve had higher power cars before and really made no use of them, the S seems about 50bhp, I could probably live without that, unless one came up in the right spec and cost, £35k is pushing it and maybe would stretch for the perfect car, £33k was the ideal amount.

Everyone has different preferences, not a fan of the 19" and particularly hate black wheels, that narrows down choice quite a bit.

Does anyone have experience of using the 718 base model as a everyday car, about 8 -10k per year? I've not test driven one yet, none nearby so would have to leave a deposit, test drive and pay the balance on the same day if I liked it, obviously the engine and road noise would be louder than I'm used to.

Perfectly suited for that, but so is an Audi TT which can be had as an RS for similar money, or with a similar output 2L for half the price.

I use mine all year round - going into my 3rd winter. I have 18 inch wheels that are good for the rubbish roads.

At least wheels can be changed relatively easily if the 'almost' perfect car turns up.
