My original warranty is up in Jan.

All "seems" ok but is there anything I should or can check whilst it's still in place?

Also what's the consensus on extended main dealer warranty, seems a bit £££ and I don't tend to here of any catastrophic failures ..? And guessing it will need main dealer servicing, and my experiences so far have not filled me full of hope in that department.....

I paid for extended warranty on mine. I'm told it's a one off option, so if you only extend for one year, you can't add further years in a years time. I took the 3 year extension.

I had rear track rods covered, I had a weeping damper declined (I've since upgraded to AST).

For £1000ish for 3 years it didn't seem like bad value against other aftermarket options (IIRC Lotus was £500ish a year, BMW similar on a 430d).

Price seems to be £1500 for the 3-year, paid that two weeks ago, but was quoted more elsewhere. I was quoted £545 for one year, and £595 elsewhere.

Has anyone tried to extend warranty again? Had 3 years on top of manufacturers and that comes to an end next year. Car will be 6 years old and well used so really only interested in protecting against some huge issue. So far car has been 100% reliable but has had some small works done under warranty at servicing - and of course the recalls. Dealer experience good - and although expensive not too bothered - expected to pay a premium even if it is basically a Renault.

I've just added 3 years to mine as of last week (£1,500).

It's currently having a rear light unit replaced under warranty, so if the other one goes within the next 3 years that's paid for itself.

Ok, then I have misunderstood, sure west London stated around 1k per year.
At 1.5k for 3 years seems a no brainer.

So - extending again for 3 years seems to be possible... as you say - no brainer

New warranty costs.

Seems a whole lot better if coverage is good.

Gone for 4 years and 60k.

Nice one @Bushi - was just going to post that exact same info, which I got from Alpine Orpington yesterday, but you beat me to it smile The 60,000 miles option is "new" I hear. At least we got the same prices!

Do you have to have it serviced at a main dealer to retain extended warranty?

No, but you have to follow the same schedule and use same oem parts.

That's if the t&c are as most others, haven't received the
updated ones yet.....

Yes most warranties you have to use OEM parts replaced by a VAT registered company, which makes it unviable for those of us that like to service our car ourselves.

If it's £500 per year for ext warranty, plus cost of servicing, it could be cheaper to service it oneself and roll the dice with faults. It could of course also be much more expensive. Thankfully these engines and gearboxes hold up pretty well, if you're very unlucky you may have a cat or turbo fault but most of the other parts aren't that expensive.

Bushi - do you have the T&Cs yet? My car is 3 years old in April and having been quoted about £460 to do an oil and filter change (less than £70 for OEM oil and filter) I doubt I'll use Alpine again for servicing. I do my own interim oil changes as well as brake fluid anyway as I track the car so I'm basically paying £400 for a stamp in the book. It'll take me longer to drive the car to the dealer and back than it will to do the work myself!

At worst, I'll use my excellent Lotus independent if the work needs a VAT-registered company to do the work, who is far more thorough than any dealer 'technician'
