My car's GPs cables behind the head unit have been damaged. How much can I expect an auto-electrician to charge (midlands) or is it something I can do myself (handy with DIY). Also, can I replace the cable with an after-market GPS cable and antenna if the original wires cannot be joined ?

Thanks for help. `

Yes you can have a go at joining them, but you will have to put the dash back to test it which can be a pain if the fault persists. Yes an aftermarket one will work fine, any I have done have had the same screw on satellite type connector on the end, just google yours to be sure before ordering.

Thanks Decky, that's good to know, I will order an after-market one just in case the original wires are too hard to re-join. I agree about the dash, that will be the main labour job.
