Guys,

PH usually has the answer to almost any question due to the huge breadth of knowledge on here, so here's goes with an unusual question.

The turbine carpet cleaning head on our Miele vacuum cleaner has worn out. Yes, worn out; I've taken it apart and the violent rattling noise it makes is due to the fact that it has plastic-on-plastic bearings and these have simply worn out over the 20 or so years we've owned it.

The head is obsolete but Miele do a current model which is a direct replacement. It's about £85.

However there are other types and designs out there starting from about £15. There seem to be two or three designs which appear under different brand names and colours. Does anyone have any experience of these and which ones are good (or not)?

FWIW it needs to fit a 34mm hose, but I guess that adaptors are available for other sizes.

Ta!

If your Miele one lasted 20 years and a replacement is £85, I'd go with that rather than something generic for £15 that will break in a year

That's a good way of looking at it - thanks.

The Miele one is a new design, that does not have a removable section to make clearing the hair and fluff out, this seems to be a common complaint.
