At last! I have a TVR!

After starting out looking at Tuscans and then checking out other models I have gone for a Chimaera (my first TVR love) with the Tuscan headlight conversion!

Woo hoo! :D

Just a couple of queries though (not read the manual or anything yet...)

Does it have a rev limiter around the 5k rev mark? I seem to lose power at that point.

Also what are the correct normal running positions of the oil and temp dials?

Rev limiter on mine used to kick in nearer 6K. it was a 4.0ltr. BTW.

Water Temp was around 75 upto 90 when fans cut in.

Oil Pressure? IIRC about 30 to 45. (in hindsight)

My Temp is about the same....75 - 90ish, but oil pressure is more like 20 - 35!

Hmmm, so maybe that is fine then, just seemed to me a little early to cut out especially as the dial goes to 8 (?)

She's going in for a service soon anyway and the garage extension is due soon too!

5k sounds a bit early to lose power.

Loads of things to check, but turn the engine off, depress the accelerator, and check that you're getting the full range of travel from the accelerator cable (in the engine bay)

Sounds like either the coil or the leads are degrading the spark, i had this at the last Vmax (157) till it just gave up and was low loaded home...

Its just possible that your rev counter is not reading correctly, my old car barely reached 4750 on the dial but was ok when checked, it was under-reading by about 1000 revs
