Wallace & Gromit 2024 Xmas special
Discussion
Just started watching this on BBC1. Is it just me, or does this look like CGI animation rather than the traditional merged still frame technique? It smacks of an ITV Kids version of the original Thunderbirds series.
Shame if so, because the old animation method was part of the series’ charm.

Some of you don’t understand either W&G or Nick Park.
This is very much classic Park W&G and you can tell that it’s Park back as opposed to the more recent Aardman productions since his retirement.
It’s the small touches, the northern humour and general style.
Frankly it’s just bloody genius.

The usual Style over substance these days . Doesn’t even compare remotely to previous W&G .
Jeez. Tough crowd. Yes it’s still claymation but not done with plasticine models anymore so slightly easier and quicker. Still takes an age though.
280 animators..Each animator produces 5 seconds of useable film a week which is before cutting and editing.
It was bloody marvellous innocent fun. So many subtle nods to famous films from yesteryear

Well I enjoyed it. Probably stands another watch to pick up more of the background stuff.
Me too, watched live and recorded it so that I can spot all the gags I missed on programme. As usual very clever, nearly choked on the penguin sitting in the chair with the white poodleStill think Wallace talks like Milliband
Edited to correct
Think Milliband talks like Wallace
