Merry Christmas all!

One of my alloys has been refurbed at least three times to my knowledge, and I have kerbed it again.

I seem to remember reading that refurbing them weakens them. Is that true?

Diamond cut alloys have a limited number of times they can be refurbished because they essentially need to skim down the face of the wheel to make it smooth again. That can only happen 2-3 times before it's essentially gone. If it's a normal painted alloy then it shouldn't matter how often a kerb rash is repaired as long as it's structurally intact.

Thanks Aunty! Then it’s an annoyance but thankfully not terminal. Excellent!

There was some chatter years ago that multiple heat cycles in the autoclave from powder coating could weaken the alloy if used hard (track wheels/race cars etc) causing wheels to shatter under load but I would imagine this is probably very edge case scenarios.

That could be what I dimly remembered Ste. I tend to pootle about rather than doing demanding track days
