Testing a Mecan Turbo Electric (I know I know - branding madness…) and there is no ADAS off shortcut so each journey starts with resetting 9 toggles….seriously tempted to write the car off on this basis alone. Am I alone?

Range Rover and Cullinan both have a little button and one press gets rid of the nanny state systems allowing for a short cut to an enjoyable drive. I cannot believe that Porsche have missed this trick particularly as they have a programmable side key on their steering wheel.

Thoughts?

If you really want the car, see if you can get hold an owners manual in advance (most are in digital format now and may be available online via manufacturers website or an app) you might find there is a way to setup a shortcut or favourite for a function in the telematics system which could be pinned to a higher level menu in the telematics system and make it easier to switch off the undesired functions.

You many also find in the manual that a quick switch off is already designed in, for example of the latest Merc's if you press and hold the steering mute button this will switch off the speed limit exceeded warning tone but it is not a widely known function.

In general, manufacturers make it semi hard to switch off the safety related functions on purpose as they make up part of the cars NCAP rating. So the above user set shortcuts helps work around this at least.
