E Bay is so tempting at this time of year
Discussion
I don't know what it is every year between Christmas and New Year .I am drawn like a moth to a light . I have two bids currently on bikes I don't need, I don't need any more bikes I just can't stop it . I've been trying to give it up but it's one of those nights E Bay E Bay.
This followed by a train journey or lift to somewhere to pick up an unknown bike in freezing conditions with the roads covered in salt .
I think I need help .

I love getting on the train with all my gear in tow
I’m the same, traveling to pick it up and riding it home is an enjoyable adventure. Thought I must be weird when friends just go to the nearest dealership, but evidently I’m not alone. I picked a bike up from north wales on a freezing Sunday night in Jan once. No way of connecting my heated clothing so I was a bit hypothermic on the way back. I told my wife to shoot me if I ever looked like doing that again.
Along similar lines there's a company called Seven Seas Motors that imports bikes from Japan. I don't absolutely need a Honda MD90 postal bike - it's a kind of small-wheel Super Cub with a top speed of 45mph - and it wouldn't be any use to me, and the speedo is in kmh. And it doesn't actually have any built-in storage. But it looks so good.
And they have a Suzuki Gemma 250, a kind of lean-back maxi-scooter with a huge boot that looks like a 1990s vision of the future. And a Honda CD250U, with the speedo in miles per hour. It's in the grey area between being a practical everyday bike and a not-particularly-sought-after antique. Top speed around 80mph. But sorting out the insurance on multiple bikes would be a faff. Also it's nice to have some money spare.

I wish you hadn't posted that, they are only about 5 miles from me so I am going to try and fight the temptation just to pop in and have a browse, must remember to leave all my debit and credit cards at home because I am easily tempted. I am down to just one bike now so have room in the garage. And they have a Suzuki Gemma 250, a kind of lean-back maxi-scooter with a huge boot that looks like a 1990s vision of the future. Although not an eBay purchase, the day in December 2009 when I collected my Ducati Multistrada 1000S was fine when I set out from Central London. Got to Colchester to see this when getting off the train...This followed by a train journey or lift to somewhere to pick up an unknown bike in freezing conditions with the roads covered in salt .

First 100m were in the snow. Terrifying. Bike shop had no van to help as it had been crashed earlier that day on a delivery...
Undeterred, this was about six weeks later when work sent me on a training course...

Stopped at a petrol station to fill up and get a warm drink, and had a brief chat with a guy who'd just collected his brand new 911 and also wasn't especially enjoying the first journey in it!
yep, i have a real hankering for a sidecar outfit and there's a good priced Ural one on there just now, Other end of the country, but you know...
In my defence, I've just been told by the guys working on my sportster that it's not gonna be cost effective to do what I want to do with it and resolve it's issues, so better to sell to someone who can tinker themselves.

I have won a replacement bumper for wife's car in Rochester Kent 150 miles return.
A motorbike in Devon 180 each way !! Pictures to follow at some time .
It's -3 outside now , woops.
Some car headlights, 120 miles return. I hit a deer in this car before Christmas, quite upsetting actually.
Finally a stationary engine in a place Noth of Inverness, I am 15 miles from the South coast . Currently looking on Shipley.
All good fun .
