What happened to all the Tesla Model X's ?
Discussion
They are a dying breed because they no longer make a RHD version of either. I had one of the last S's which rolled off the production line in the summer of 2020.
Tesla had refreshed them and always satisfied the LHD market first before retooling the production line in Fremont California. This delay ended up being even longer when they realised relocating the steering rack etc wasn't possible as during the refresh they'd also moved the front motor. I beleive there was then a debate about steer by wire but the end result was the abandonment of RHD Model S and X's.
I know of a few UK owners who've gone for the LHD version, which comes with the Tesla Reacher - a litter picker for use at car park barriers and the like. I kid you not!

Looking at HowManyLeft, the numbers for each variant listed are almost completely static since about 2018. So they haven't gone anywhere, but there are no new ones adding to the existing ones, and their numbers are now dwarfed by Model 3 and Y.
There's only about 15k total Models S and X the road, whereas it's close to 190k combined for Models 3 and Y. 15k of any vehicle means you're not going to see them very often.

I would imagine that they are dispersing from areas where people buy very expensive new cars into areas where they don’t. When people stop buying a particular car in those areas, they will gradually cease to be hotspots for them.
I've noticed them disappear from around my area in the last few years too - I think you're right.Brand new, on trend car = affluent area
Ex PCP/lease 3 years later = slightly different area...
Also hardly any new ones as it's Plaid only in the UK, and they're not cheap. Well, actually for a well specced car with over 1000hp they're an absolute bargain. But LHD takes the shine off. I'm very happy driving a LHD car on the RHS of the road, I've spent the last twenty years doing it when working overseas. But do I want 1000hp in a LHD car on the wrong side of the road... Nope. That would be hard to fully enjoy

It's a shame we don't get RHD new S/X in the UK in recent years, I would have considered either when I last changed my lease car for the right lease deal.

Yes. I live in a poor part of London and I'm seeing more people locally get older Model S/X cars, typically with dark tints all round, weirdly spaced private plates and driven like absolute idiots. raspy said:

You could buy them here until recently, but only LHD.
Ha, I stand corrected. Wonder why they hardly haven't sold any then
Certainly, anecdotally, I've heard of a lot of people in America disposing of their Teslas and refusing to buy new ones as they don't want to be associated with Musk.
Given Musk's increasingly vociferous and unhinged attempts to intervene in British politics, I wonder if people in the UK are going to start feeling a bit self-conscious driving around in a symbol of Ketamine-fuelled, right-wing hate?

Is it out of shame?
It was obviously a joke as they didn't offer it in RHD so it won't sell in the UK. The Model Y was the best selling EV by some margin in the UK, despite ever growing competition.

Sure, "a lot", the Model Y smashed it in the USA last year in sales numbers. No other EV comes close.NDNDNDND said:

Remember over half of the UK voted for Brexit.otolith said:

Remember over half of the UK voted for Brexit. How people voted for Brexit and what people currently think about Elon Musk are completely unrelated.
