Does anyone know of the following GT3 engine parts going spare so that I can use them for evaluation purposes?

Piston
Barrel
Cylinder Head
Camshaft (intake & exhaust, either side)
Valve
Follower
Cam carrier

Ideally I would like to get hold of damaged parts from a blown road engine rather than have to buy useable stock, but whatever is around I may be interested in.

As for the tuning programme, get me the parts and I reckon we will find you over 450bhp....

You'll be hard pushed to find a blown GT3 engine, i've never heard of a single one to go pop in the UK !!!

450bhp sounds optimistic, what do you think you can do, that the likes of manthey, Cargraphic etc etc can't ??

(serious question)

I agree with Glenn. How can you get 450 BHP from this engine, when the likes of Manthey etc can only get this figures by boring it out to 3.9 litres???

Am sure I am correct in saying that the GT3RSR had this amount, but this was a race car only and I am sure had many exotic components.

The RSR would have had to run on restrictors though. Not sure it had this much power anyway - I have the brochure at home so could check.

I think that the GT3RSR runs around 455bhp on restrictors from a 3.6 and so 450bhp is far from impossible with a bit of development (although the engine may end up more like a race engine).

Exactly, it it would probably be cheaper/easier to buy a Cup car in that case IMHO.

I'm speculating that the engine won't be EU emissions legal whereas the Manthey at al engines will be. That gives Colin a bit more breathing room, so to speak.

Here are the specs on the GT3RSR :

max torque 410Nm at 7.2k
max power 455bhp at 8.5k
max rpm 8.7k

Thats with FIA restrictors, not smaller ACO (lemans) ones.

Best bit is the weight - 1100kg.

That car is a beast!

If we can coax 415bhp from a two valve aircooled 993 engine on standard heat exchangers I am confident that with proper port design we can make the GT3 produce over 450bhp within standard rpm limits (and hence be road driveable).

In answer to the question regarding why 9m can do it and not Manthey, the answer is that we are not just making the best of what is already there, we are putting right the fundamental design faults first, then optimising a perfect design.
