Anyone got any recommended places to go for sand blasting, zinc plating and powder coating in the midlands area ? Just removed rear sub frame and would rather use someone recommended.

I don’t know of and have not tried anyone to recommend.

But in midlands (Leicester) there is “the-machine-shop.co.uk” they have powder coating, only you do it yourself and you effectively go there to get training and hire use of their tools. Think it’s £50 for a single month or cheaper options for regular subscriptions. It might be they also have their professional take jobs and you simply pay for them to do it for you.

I’ve been thinking about giving it a try to go and strip and re powder-coat my wing mirror brackets. I figure the worst that can happen is I balls it up and they need to be sandblasted and done properly by someone else.

Thanks Apollya, I have heard of them and might give them a try.

I would always prefer to do it myself so would be a good compromise if the costs are reasonable.

Whereabouts are you?

There is a chap local to me (one man band) who does all my powder coating for cars etc. He'll be my choice when I finally do mine. No zinc plating though but he can put on a zinc primer.

He's near Ashby de la Zouch and Coalville.

I did mean zinc primer, not plating (bad terminology) I have talked to a local place, so might pop in and see them over the weekend and let you know how I get on.
