Those of a certain age who liked mtb's in their youth may well remember Jez Avery, racer turned stunt performer, splashed across many a cycling page. Unfortunately after his well publicised battles with depression he ended his life this weekend.
He had discussed how he struggled with winter time, and this time of year is hard for many.
His family and friends are obviously distraught at this, don't suffer in silence, we all look after each other.

Oh no that's terrible news.

I remember him from MBUK, riding Pro-Flex bikes and seeing him at The Malverns 1995 getting a lot of air on the double jump over the road at the bottom of the course. Proper legend. RIP

Very sad news used to love watching his videos back in the day, we used to try and copy some of the stuff he did, more often or not leading to an injury or two.

Christ that’s so sad. I met him a couple of times at races back in the day. Nice bloke and a very talented rider.

Wow, there's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I used to love his stuff in MBUK. R.I.P.

Sad to hear, John Stevenson (former Ed. of MBUK) is terminally ill as well.

He's quite active on Retrobike.

Life is fragile, be careful out there.

There was a VHS I had back then which was a sort of "how to" (wish I could remember the title) I learnt to trackstand after watching it a million times, and from time to time when I do one at lights, I think of that video!

I hope he knew how many people he inspired along the way

Missed the thread when first posted.

That's a shame. Like others here have said, definitely a name I remember from the 90s.
